Premises, grounds and outdoor equipment

Our premises are set within the village of New Inn, Pontypool - just a few minutes’ walk from green areas ideal for more outdoor play and village shops and services and also close to many major road and rail links for all those travelling further afield for work purposes.

The main building itself is a newly renovated 2 storey office block of which we currently occupy most of the ground floor and surrounding outdoor area. Each room is meticulously designed and equipped to meet the needs of our Babies (non-mobile), Woddlers (mobile), Toddlers (2-3 years approx.) and Pre-schoolers (3+ years). We have recently converted the bathrooms in the building, to low level toilets, wash basins and child-friendly privacy cubicles appropriate to the age of the children in our setting and a disabled WC is also available for use for all on site. We have CCTV cameras on the nursery site for the safety and security of our children and our staff.

Babies occupy 2 playrooms equipped for their different stages of development and also a separate sleep room. This room was specially chosen for its tranquil feel and small amount of natural light, complete with black out blind and soothing star ceiling projection to help your baby drift off to the land of nod. There are changing areas available throughout the building as well as bottle making facilities separate to the kitchen facilities. We are also more than happy to accommodate those parents that wish to continue breast feeding their children including storage facilities for expressed breast milk or just a peaceful place to sit and feed at your request.

We have a beautiful, light and open space for dining purposes allowing children to sit together and enjoy the social aspects of mealtimes as well as the good food. In between mealtimes the dining areas are available for messy play and other planned activities. We also have a separate area attached to the nursery kitchen especially resourced for children to explore food and develop their own cookery skills in small supervised groups usually on a weekly basis –and of course to taste their wares after all their hard work!

Our garden and surrounding outdoor areas are ample. We are extremely fortunate to have an multi-surfaced, exciting and highly secure outdoor area (completely surrounded by a sturdy fence) where children can investigate the world around them, develop their physical skills and most importantly simply play safely every day (except in extreme weather conditions). Here the children enjoy a designated area for ride-on toys, a patio for sand and water, painting experience, etc. and an artificial all weather lawn area for paddling pools, golf, bowling, ball play, communal sand pit, trampolining, picnics, bouncy castles, slide, role play-to mention just a few of the activities we provide or can just sit quietly and drift away with a good story.

The pre-school room opens out directly onto

the outdoor area. There is also a natural area to

the back of the property where you will find an

allotment where children will be encouraged to get

involved in growing, harvesting and learning about

various seasonal fruits and vegetables and gain an

understanding of natural processes and where our

food comes from.
